Optional accident benefits after July 1, 2026

Ontario drivers now have to pay closer attention to accident-benefit selections because many benefits that were previously standard became optional.

Income-related benefits

Income replacement and non-earner benefits are now optional for policies entered into on or after July 1, 2026.

Care and household benefits

Caregiver, dependant care and housekeeping/home-maintenance benefits are optional.

Other financial supports

Lost educational expenses, visitor expenses, damage to personal items, death, funeral and indexation benefits are among the optional choices.
